Ares (Mars in Roman) was the Greek god of war. He was the son of Zeus and Hera. He enjoyed war, but didn’t always win!

Ares and Aphrodite’s story:

       This famous myth is about Ares and Aphrodite’s (goddess of love and beauty) undying love, kind of. They were secretly seeing each other, but the Sun god, Helios saw them together and reported it to Aphrodite’s husband, Hephaestus.

       Hephaestus then decided to capture them in the act. He created a net that was nearly invisible. Then, he took them to the other Olympians. Ares and Aphrodite were humiliated greatly and Ares left to go back home. But, I guess that’s what they got for lying!
